About the position
The Painter position is responsible for quality spray painting or powder coating of machine parts. The role involves reading and interpreting prints, manufacturing orders, and process data sheets, as well as painting surfaces of parts using spray painting equipment or powder coating processes. Prior to painting, the candidate must clean and prepare part surfaces to be contamination-free, inspect parts for needed repairs, mask parts for overspray prevention, and hang or set up parts prior to painting. After painting, the candidate will inspect parts for needed repairs, proper thickness, and general appearance. The position also requires operating spray booths, ovens, and ventilation systems, maintaining paint equipment, and communicating with team members and leaders to provide work updates. Safety procedures and regulations must be adhered to at all times.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret prints, manufacturing orders, and process data sheets.
- Paint surfaces of parts using spray painting equipment or powder coating processes.
- Clean and prepare part surfaces to be contamination-free prior to painting.
- Inspect parts prior to paint for needed repair, prepping, and cleaning.
- Mask parts to print for overspray prevention.
- Hang or set-up parts prior to painting.
- Inspect parts after painting for needed repairs, proper thickness, and general appearance.
- Operate spray booth, oven, and ventilation system per specific instructions.
- Properly maintain paint equipment, i.e., spray guns, booth, filters, etc.
- Pass respirator clearance and undergo respirator fit testing.
- Operate forklift, hoists, and other tools related to the job.
- Communicate with team members and leaders to provide work updates.
- Maintain safety by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Spray painting or powder coating in an industrial setting preferred.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
