About The Position

The ACT Independent Living Specialist will help vulnerable members learn the skills they need to live independently. This role serves as the independent living skills specialist for the ACT team, collaborating with the team to help members develop roles outside of their mental illness. The focus is on increasing employment, meaningful community activity, social networks, decreasing substance use/abuse, and achieving independent living status.

Requirements

  • Master's or bachelor's degree with a behavioral health or related field OR Bachelor's degree in a non-related field PLUS one year related experience OR Associate's degree in any field PLUS one year related experience OR High school diploma or equivalency certificate PLUS three years' related experience.
  • Minimum one year working with seriously mentally ill adults.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience teaching independent living skills to disabled individuals.
  • Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Therapeutic Options certifications.
  • Must maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and car insurance.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Extensive knowledge and/or previous experience in independent living skills training, services, and resources.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working on an ACT team or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to type 25 to 40 WPM.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the independent living skills specialist for the ACT team.
  • Collaborate with the team to help members develop roles outside of their mental illness.
  • Focus on expected outcomes of increased employment, meaningful community activity, social network, and decreased substance use/abuse.
  • Assist members in achieving independent living status.
  • Teach independent living skills to disabled individuals.
  • Provide services and resources related to independent living skills.
  • Maintain excellent member and family relationships.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Utilize multiple types of office equipment (i.e. phones, copier, fax, etc.).
  • Utilize the internet and various web browsers.
