About The Position

The Incoming/Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, components, and products to ensure compliance with purchase orders, engineering specifications, and established quality standards. This role will play a critical part in preventing nonconforming material from entering production and supports supplier quality performance and continuous improvement initiatives. The successful Incoming/Receiving Inspector will combine technical precision, ethical strength, and calm communication to protect both the product and the company. This role will work at ZincFive headquarters located in Tualatin, Oregon, and reports to the Manufacturing Quality Engineer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in quality control or inspection in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Experience working with Quality Management Systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of geometric, dimension, and tolerancing
  • Strong diligence and attention to detail
  • Integrity and confidence to stop nonconforming products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Comfort with data, performing measurements, and working to established procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Electronics, or related field
  • SAP knowledge
  • Certified Quality Inspector, Technician (CQI, CQT), or other quality certifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming raw materials, components, subassemblies, and may assist with finished goods inspection against purchase orders, drawings, and specifications
  • Verification of part numbers, quantities, revisions, and packaging condition
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections as required
  • Mastery of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, multimeters, and CMM’s.  Attention to calibration and traceability.
  • Knowledge of proper sampling techniques (AQL and SPC basics) and understanding of sampling plans
  • Review Certificates of Conformance (C of C), test reports, and supplier documentation
  • Record inspection results in ERP or quality system (QT9)
  • Maintain accurate inspection logs, inspection reports, and traceability records
  • Ensure materials are properly identified, labeled, and status-tagged (accepted, rejected, on-hold, MRB)
  • Identify, segregate, and tag nonconforming of suspect material
  • Initiate nonconformance reports (NCP’s) or rejection reports
  • Communicate discrepancies to Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality Assurance
  • Support MRB activities when required
  • Provide feedback on supplier quality performance
  • Assist with supplier corrective actions by providing inspection data
  • Help identify trends such as repeat defects or poor packaging
  • Documentation in Quality Management System (QT9)
  • Ensure incoming materials comply with ISO or internal quality standards
  • Follow inspection plans, control plans, and work instructions
  • Verify compliance with Safety, ESD, and handling requirements
  • Recommend improvements to inspection methods or receiving processes
  • Help reduce incoming defects, delays, and rework
  • Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and methods
