About the position

The Construction Project Accountant will be responsible for managing financial and administrative activities within a high-end development and general contracting firm. This role requires multitasking in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for multiple projects and entities. The accountant will handle various tasks including funding draw requests, accounts payable and receivable, financial record maintenance, and assisting with audits and financial reconciliations.

Responsibilities

  • Handle monthly Funding Draw Requests/Submittals
  • Manage accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R)
  • Maintain financial records and reports
  • Perform account reconciliations
  • Assist with land purchase, construction loan, and refinancing processes
  • Lead the monthly closing process for the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
  • Update and prepare monthly financial reporting for internal management and external partners
  • Manage intercompany accounting
  • Assist with the annual audit process
  • Collaborate with external property management firms to record financial performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Three years plus of experience in construction, land development, or real estate accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Experience with full charge general ledger accounting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
  • Strong organizational, quantitative, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and a reliable work ethic
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AIA/Draw submittal process
  • Ten years of experience in GAAP accounting preferred
  • Ten years of experience in construction accounting preferred
