About the position

The In-Home Behavioral Therapist assists service recipients attain the goals of the individual care plan and sustain positive behavioral changes and improvements in functionality and quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates support of all outcomes for service recipients supported.
  • For Professional/Clinical level: Provide interventions including clinical consultation/assessment, counseling, group, individual, or family therapy, anger management, parenting skill development, problem solving and skill development, stress reduction techniques, symptom reduction, adaptive and coping skills, and psycho-educational instruction related to mental health.
  • For Supportive level: Provide interventions including instruction in anger management skills, parenting skill development, instruction in stress reduction techniques, problem solving skill development, psycho-educational services related to mental health, and referral to other necessary services and supports.
  • Maintain flexibility in clinical modalities and apply according to client's needs and abilities.
  • Listen to and respond to the needs of service recipients, parents/guardians, area program staff, and agency management.
  • Document all activities in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Transport service recipients as needed and clinically indicated.
  • Complete all mandated supervision and training and maintain as required.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with service recipients, employers, parents/guardians, area program staff, and agency staff.
  • Advocate for service recipients in all situations.
  • Abide by all agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with agency mission and values.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, to complete tasks as instructed, be receptive to new ideas, and be creative in solving problems.
  • Ability to also work autonomously, setting goals for work tasks and using strategies to effectively meet goals.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to growth and improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, counseling, etc.
  • Must be licensed in the state that the caregiver will be working and in the appropriate field.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and have no history of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children or vulnerable adults.
  • At least one year of documented relevant experience with children and families with mental health needs.
  • Reliable transportation (including valid driver's license, insurance, vehicle registration, and acceptable driving record within company insurance guidelines) is highly preferred.
