About the position
The Downsizers has an additional offering, The Consignors, which provides in-home, online estate sales and serves as a clearinghouse for clients' household items during the downsizing process. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage with a growing demographic challenge related to the management of belongings from estates, focusing on selling and re-homing items. The ideal candidate should possess an interest and general knowledge in vintage, antique, and collectible items, demonstrating integrity, diligence, and respect for the senior population. Responsibilities
- Research and develop accurate descriptions of household items including jewelry, pottery, kitchenware, collectibles, art, electronics, coins, and furniture.
- Assist in creating auction lots.
- Use a phone app to photograph and index items.
- Utilize available tools to identify and create titles and descriptions of items quickly.
- Practice attention to detail in all tasks.
- Pack non-auction items for donation to facilitate house clear-outs.
- Maintain proper labeling of items and organization of working spaces.
- Assist on auction pick-up days.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
- Experience with Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and Mac).
- Extreme attention to detail.
- Excellent writing and/or cataloging skills.
- Strong research skills in a high-production environment.
- An inquisitive, research-oriented mind.
- Ability to take direction and work in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
- Capability to focus on repetitive tasks for extended periods.
Nice-to-haves
- General knowledge of antiques, art, jewelry, decorative home items, collectibles, and the auction industry.
- Experience in reselling, consignment, or eCommerce.
