About the position
The Immigration Legal Assistant will support the Humanitarian Department at The United Firm, A.P.C. by managing client relationships and assisting in the preparation and filing of U-Visa applications. This role requires strong customer service and case management skills, along with knowledge of immigration law, particularly the U-Visa process.
Responsibilities
- Analyze police reports and prepare U-Visa certifications for filing with the appropriate law enforcement agency.
- Compile case documents and prepare immigration applications for filing with the appropriate government agency.
- Communicate with clients and law enforcement agencies regarding procedures and case status.
- Oversee status of cases through utilization of case management and billing systems.
- Make regular updates to our case management system including client information, case tracking information, and client communications.
- Maintain electronic copy files and documents to support all immigration activity on behalf of clients.
- Ensure that clients are kept informed on the progress of their cases.
- Complete assignments and communicate case status to the Legal Supervisor.
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of Immigration Law experience.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience with U-Visa.
- Experience with Case Management Software, such as Clio and Airtable.
