About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller/Collections Clerk to join our medical office team. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of healthcare services while ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will oversee all billing, claim processing, collections, payment tracking, and coding invoices.

Responsibilities

• Process and submit medical billing claims accurately and in a timely manner.
• Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 to ensure proper documentation and billing.
• Review patient records and ensure all necessary information is included for billing purposes.
• Follow up on outstanding claims and manage the medical collection process effectively.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies in billing or coding.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) guidelines and regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies regarding medical billing practices.
• Assist in the maintenance of electronic medical records systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of medical billing experience for a medical group REQUIRED.
• Strong knowledge of medical coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG methodologies.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.

Nice-to-haves

• Worker's Comp experience PREFERRED.
• Open to any medical billing software.
• Familiarity with medical office operations and procedures is essential.
