About the position

The I&C Technician at Shermco Industries is a multi-skilled role focused on industrial instrumentation and controls automation. This position requires a motivated team player with solid knowledge of automated control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, control valves, and electrical construction in an industrial setting. The role offers significant opportunities for technical and professional advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and understand P&ID's, loop drawings, installation details, layout drawings, and other documents associated with construction packages.
  • Coordinate between field staff, contractors, and system owners to ensure installation and testing procedures are agreed upon.
  • Act as a liaison and technical resource for management, field personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues related to instrumentation, control valves, process controllers, PLC hardware, and control systems.
  • Coordinate repair, testing, and installation of control panels, PLCs, I/O modules, and communications equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical installation of control panels and instrumentation.
  • Conduct field wiring of control panels and instrumentation.
  • Install, calibrate, and commission pressure, flow, level, temperature, and analytical instruments.

Requirements

  • Two-year Associates degree in Automation & Controls, Instrumentation, or similar technical program highly preferred.
  • ISA CCST certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years industrial electrical and controls experience.
  • Thorough understanding of computers, MS Office, and basic networking.
  • Electrical understanding of motor controls, VFD's, control loops, pneumatic/hydraulic theory, industrial networking, relay logic, and analog & digital signal loop theory.
  • Basic understanding of Rockwell Automation Logix5000, RSLinx, and similar software.
  • Self-motivated individual able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to assist in other technical disciplines.
  • High level understanding of field instruments, electronic test equipment, control valves, and control panels.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, ladders, manlifts, etc.
