About the position

Barr is seeking a senior-level hydrogeologist or engineer to enhance our team that provides services to the power industry regarding the CCR Rule. This role focuses on facility evaluation, hydrogeologic characterization, water management, and compliance with environmental regulations. The successful candidate will engage in project responsibilities that include remediation implementation, data collection, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, while also participating in business development activities to foster client relationships and identify new project opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement remediation and monitoring reporting under the 2015 CCR Rule.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure compliance with the CCR Legacy Rule and programs.
  • Collect hydrogeological field data and conduct data interpretation/evaluation.
  • Provide technical guidance on operational water management issues.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams on modeling studies.
  • Interact with clients to identify and develop new project opportunities.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and develop proposals.
  • Network with clients and project partners at conferences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 10 years of work experience in relevant fields.
  • Experience designing and implementing hydrogeologic field investigation activities, including drilling and well construction.
  • Knowledge of the CCR Rule, Legacy Rule, and monitoring networks.
  • Familiarity with hydrogeologic data to support groundwater model development and calibration.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to write well.
  • Attention to detail and ability to collaborate with external clients and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel and adjust personal schedule as needed.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in geology, hydrogeology, or engineering with an emphasis in hydrogeology.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Experience with assessment of corrective action and remedy selection.
  • Experience with impoundment closure plans, design, and implementation.
  • Recognized expertise in CCR demonstrated by attending and presenting at conferences.
