About the position

The E/I Technician will provide instrumentation and electrical support to the Matheson Tri-Gas Steam Methane Reforming Hydrogen plants, focusing on critical safety systems and system reliability. The role involves performing calibrations, troubleshooting, and repairs in an operational process facility, emphasizing personal and site safety.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to team awareness of co-worker and personal safety through proper work habits and good housekeeping skills.
  • Adjust and calibrate pressure measuring and recording devices; repair and replace damaged parts.
  • Adjust and calibrate temperature measuring and recording devices; repair and replace damaged parts.
  • Adjust and calibrate level measuring devices; repair and replace damaged parts.
  • Repair, adjust, calibrate, and inspect flow measuring and control instruments, including mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Repair, adjust, and replace worn parts in instrument mechanisms, including electrical contacts and coils.
  • Adjust control valves and devices, involving diaphragms, hydraulic cylinders, and electronic controls.
  • Remove, install, clean, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation, and distributed control equipment throughout the facility.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues, including switchgears, control panels, and transformers.
  • Perform routine analyzer maintenance and troubleshoot analyzer issues.
  • Service and maintain all electronic equipment, using necessary test equipment.
  • Maintain pneumatic and motor-operated valves and actuators.
  • Read and understand various electrical, pneumatic, piping, and instrumentation diagrams and drawings.
  • Maintain safe and reliable operations by performing installation, inspection, calibration, and maintenance tasks.
  • Support motor controls, pneumatic controls, AC/DC controls, instrumentation, and various communication protocols.
  • Take a logical approach to troubleshooting and apply knowledge to solve moderately complex problems with supervision.
  • Assist Regional Management in execution of Electrical and Instrumentation duties at other Matheson locations during Plant Turnaround or reliability concerns.
  • Interface frequently with customers and work collaboratively with the Instrument Technician at Pensacola, FL.
  • Provide Call-In Vacation coverage and respond to emergency events at the Pensacola location as needed.

Requirements

  • Eight years of relevant experience within a technical discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation).
  • Trade/Technical degree or apprenticeship in a related field.
  • High School diploma or equivalency required.
  • Competent understanding of electricity and electrical theory.
  • Experience with PLC and DCS preferred, especially Emerson (Delta V).
  • Proficient computer skills, including communications protocols and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated initiative and drive with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong personal safety philosophy.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in an industrial setting with increasing responsibility in a Plant Maintenance role.
