About The Position

This internship involves repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and assembling various machines, equipment, and building systems, including HVAC units, fan coils, pumps, motors, compressors, plumbing, electrical systems, and other building mechanical equipment. The role also includes performing repairs and minor construction using carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and painting skills. Additionally, the intern will assist with snow removal activities, which may involve driving AMC vehicles for snowplowing, distributing road salt, and shoveling sidewalks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
• Has a working knowledge of the safe use of power tools, shop tools, hand tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs periodic preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections on machinery and systems.
• Maintains and overhauls various machines and equipment such as compressors, pumps, motors, and fans.
• Fabricates brackets, guards, parts, etc., using welders, power, and shop tools.
• Repairs, cleans, lubricates, and maintains equipment and systems such as surgical tables, nurse call systems, medical gas systems, automatic doors, sterilizers, motors, pumps, compressors, and controls.
• Performs repairs and minor construction to buildings and facilities, including painting, plastering, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Performs all assigned tasks in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Works with blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
• Maintains spare parts and hardware inventory and equipment information files, including drawings, schematics, parts lists, cut sheets, and operating instructions.
• Performs periodic preventative maintenance of equipment and systems and maintains records of tests, calibrations, and inspections performed.
• Performs mandatory overtime and other duties as required (on-call coverage, call back, and snow removal duties) and works with and assists other trades as needed.
• Assists and cooperates with supervision to schedule and complete projects according to plans.
• Assists in the inspection and testing of fire alarms.
• Performs periodic maintenance to fire alarms and resets alarms.
• Performs air handler filter changing.
• May periodically perform minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Follows AMC policies and procedures and adheres to Center safety policies and regulations.
• Conducts good housekeeping measures to promote safety.
• Attends asbestos training annually and participates in the asbestos team.
• Management reserves the right to assign or reassign all employees when needed.
