About the position

The HVAC Installation & Repair Supervisor at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and service of Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems according to building codes and standards. This role includes conducting routine inspections, maintaining inventory through planning and purchasing, and responding to work requests in a timely manner using a Total Maintenance System (TMS). The supervisor will oversee inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the facility's HVAC systems and may respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis. Additionally, the supervisor may assist in other areas of the Building and Grounds department, including preventative maintenance, construction projects, equipment repair, electrical, welding, carpentry, electronics, or outside maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide repair, maintenance, and service of HVAC systems according to building codes and standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of HVAC systems.
  • Maintain inventory through planning and purchasing.
  • Respond to work requests in a timely manner using a Total Maintenance System (TMS).
  • Supervise inmate workers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
  • Respond to emergency callbacks for service on a rotating basis.
  • Assist in other areas of the Building and Grounds department as needed.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of installation, repair, and maintenance practices for HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of tools and supplies related to HVAC.
  • Ability to lead and supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to keep narrative and statistical records relating to maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in web-based HVAC control systems.
  • Knowledge in mini-split systems, split systems, and package units.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and Gmail.
  • Experience in multiple trades.
