About the position

The Education and Labor Cabinet's Department of Disability Determination Services Programs (DDDSP) assists and determines eligibility for Social Security Administration Disability benefits for the citizens in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We are seeking a Human Services Program Supervisor of the Quality Assurance Section within the Professional Services Branch to supervise and coordinate the work activity of the section and serve as reference person to Department for Disability Determination Services Program (DDSP) staff to promote quality decisions. This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non-merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates work activity of the Quality Assurance Section and monitors timely case flow through the section.
  • Reviews sample of Quality Assurance analysts' work to assure consistency and accuracy.
  • Confers with staff frequently to provide feedback on case review, to assess progress and share concerns.
  • Communicates with department leadership team, supervisors and staff promoting the concepts of Quality Production.
  • Identifies DDSP training needs and advises appropriate staff.
  • Responds to protests timely and consults with Social Security Administration/DDSP staff on difficult case/policy issues.
  • Monitors Federal quality returns.
  • Assesses staff training needs, counsels employees regarding performance problems and evaluates the performance of staff; provides positive feedback.
  • Approves staff leave requests and time sheets appropriately.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of professional experience in the administration of human services programs, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field.
  • A master's degree in social work, health administration, labor relations, public or business administration or related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Administrative or business experience, or professional, subprofessional, or clerical work in a human services area, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
