About the position

The HR Manager will lead key initiatives in recruitment, retention, employee relations, and equal opportunity, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company and brand standards. This role partners closely with leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives, bringing expertise to resolve HR challenges in a dynamic environment. The HR Manager is essential to supporting all employee-related activities within the hotel, refining consistent practices that promote stable, high-quality service delivery in alignment with company-wide policies and initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment process including posting and updating career opportunities, screening resumes and candidates, scheduling interviews, administering pre-employment paperwork, conducting reference and background checks, and extending offers to final candidates.
  • Interview and assess candidates based on needs defined by department hiring managers.
  • Attend recruitment functions such as job fairs and career days to source candidates.
  • Handle administration of new hire process and paperwork, entering data in HRIS in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain associate files in an orderly, compliant, and secure manner.
  • Address timekeeping issues in the Workday system.
  • Respond to associate inquiries and issues immediately, tracking them and informing the General Manager.
  • Address and resolve employee relations issues, involving corporate human resources when necessary.
  • Advise department managers on employee matters, including disciplinary actions and performance evaluations.
  • Place employment ads on various websites as requested.
  • Monitor worker's compensation claims in conjunction with corporate risk department.
  • Maintain and update bulletin boards in all associate areas and HR bulletin board.
  • Implement and sustain Human Resources initiatives at the property.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to keep information confidential.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficient in HRIS and timekeeping systems.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • PHR certification preferred.
