About the position

The entry-level Human Resources Generalist at LAZ Parking supports the HR Business Partner for the CT region by establishing and maintaining compliant employment practices. This role acts as a liaison between the Home Office and operational teams, promoting a people-first culture and ensuring that HR policies and procedures are effectively communicated and implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Manage weekly payroll processing by ensuring managers sign off on hours in a timely manner.
  • Interpret, administer, and mediate inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Collaborate to ensure pay data is completed and uploaded properly, ensuring wage and hour compliance.
  • Assist the HR Business Partner with employee relations issues.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws, updating forms and policies as needed.
  • Manage all leaves of absence, including FMLA and state disability leaves.
  • Process all status changes, terminations, and labor allocations in the HRIS system.
  • Leverage analytics and reporting to drive results.
  • Respond to unemployment notices.
  • Act as a liaison for employee benefits inquiries within the region.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims and adhere to company processes.
  • Handle all employee communications for the region.
  • Manage union billing.
  • Assist with recruiting, training, and onboarding as needed.
  • Conduct new hire orientations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-4 years of Human Resources experience with emphasis on payroll and compliance.
  • Experience in employee relations, workers compensation, and benefits.
  • Union experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Advanced experience with Excel.
  • Basic experience with Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting tools.
