The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) has a dual focus, a combination of the Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) and Nursing Assistant (NA) roles. They serve as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients with activities of daily living and perform patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
  • Collaborate with unit leadership in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit.
  • Process patient records and maintain ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel.
  • Serve as a resource for physicians and other members of the health care team for the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain and demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability of the delegated tasks.
  • Support department operational needs and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Report to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role.
  • Successful completion of KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role.
  • Certification in CPR/BLS.
  • Must have one of the following: Six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility, Completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months, Nursing student or listed as pre-nursing as shown on transcripts, Current employee with Kettering Health.
