The Health Services Specialist I (Medical Assistant) at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Inc. is responsible for providing direct patient services in various health center areas, including sexual and reproductive health, family medicine, and abortion services. This role involves ensuring patient satisfaction, managing administrative tasks, and performing lab tests, all while adhering to the organization's standards and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct service in health center areas including sexual and reproductive health, abortion, prenatal, and family medicine.
• Communicates accurate information regarding Planned Parenthood services to patients.
• Screens financial, medical, and social history with correct documentation.
• Demonstrates customer service standards and solicits donations from patients.
• Handles front office check-in and check-out processes, including appointment scheduling and payment collection.
• Enters patient information into the Electronic Practice Management System (EPM).
• Contacts insurance companies for benefit information and authorization for services.
• Ensures accuracy of charges and posts them to EPM following established practices.
• Performs moderately complex lab testing, including pregnancy tests and STI/HIV testing.
• Prepares patients for exams and assists in the exam room as needed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Ability to communicate sensitive information across diverse backgrounds.
• General knowledge of Windows-based computer applications and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work in a busy environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
