About the position

The HSE Process Safety Specialist II at Plains All American is responsible for developing and improving the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and serving as a subject matter expert in process safety. This role involves collaboration with various teams to enhance safety measures and manage risks associated with oil and gas operations. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, combining office and remote work, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Ensures Plains PSM Program is compliant with OSHA 1910.119 and EPA 40 CFR Part 68
• Provides SME advice to support HSE Ops PSM Specialists in ensuring compliance at Plains PSM-covered sites
• Leads Management of Change and Process Safety Management initiatives
• Maintains and reports on metrics to measure progress towards PSM goals
• Organizes and maintains annual process hazard analysis and safety audits schedule
• Develops closure strategies for corporate actions from PSM audits
• Provides SME opinion on high-risk process safety events when requested

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant oil and gas, refining, or petrochemical experience
• Strong understanding of OSHA 1910.119, 40 CFR Part 68, and API RP 754
• Experience participating in Process Hazard Analyses and incident Root Cause Analyses
• Excellent oral communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Valid driver's license

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with CSA Z767 and CSA Z260
• Experience using IBM Maximo
