About The Position

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of HR, the Human Resource Generalist works to ensure an overall effective and viable human resource system and coordinates the hiring process. This role involves maintaining HR policies, managing personnel files, assisting with recruitment, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. The position requires a high level of confidentiality and the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of constituents or employees of the organization.
  • Ability and/or willingness to learn to use and understand Microsoft Office for spreadsheets, letters, and other written communications.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training.
  • Fluent in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure an overall effective and viable human resource system.
  • Coordinate the hiring process.
  • Keep current with the charter school’s Human Resource Policy and Procedures Manual and provide recommendations for their use.
  • Assist with the maintenance of complete job description documentation.
  • Assist in the security and maintenance of personnel files.
  • Assist with the training of all interviewers for proper interviewing techniques and compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Review employment applications and associated documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Inform newly hired personnel of job duties, responsibilities, compensation, benefits, work schedules, policies, and other relevant information.
  • Maintain records and provide reports regarding resumes, applicant flow, and employee selection.
  • Schedule and attend on-site and virtual Career Fairs to expand the network of candidates.
  • Prepare and post job openings internally and externally.
  • Assist in reaching out to candidates using various methods, including social media and university partnerships.
  • Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports.
  • Perform reference and background checks on applicants.
  • Prepare and issue agreements for approval.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of teacher retention strategies.
