About The Position

Samaritan is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner specializing in Labor & Employee Relations to join their team. This full-time role focuses on managing collective bargaining, interpreting labor contracts, overseeing grievance processes, and advising senior leadership on labor strategy. The position also involves mediating disputes, conducting investigations, coaching managers, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR labor and employee relations, preferably within a healthcare setting, and possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR Labor and Employee Relations experience handling a broad range of HR issues, including experience with Collective Bargaining.
  • HR in a healthcare setting required.
  • Strong knowledge of HR/Labor laws and the ability to apply them according to policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented, high-touch environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve.
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support collective bargaining negotiations to establish, maintain or update CBAs.
  • Interpret and enforce labor contracts, providing guidance to management and staff to ensure consistent application.
  • Oversee the grievance process, investigating complaints, mediating disputes, and representing Samaritan in arbitration.
  • Advise senior leadership on labor strategy, workforce dynamics, and potential labor-related risks.
  • Mediate and resolve workplace disputes, employee grievances, and interpersonal conflicts in a timely and impartial manner.
  • Conduct thorough, confidential investigations into employee complaints (e.g., harassment, discrimination, policy violations) and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Advise and coach managers and supervisors on handling performance issues, disciplinary processes, and difficult conversations.
  • Track employee relations data and trends, and conduct exit interviews to identify areas for organizational improvement and turnover reduction.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Samaritan’s compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, e.g. EEOC, ADA.
  • Assist in departmental reporting.
  • Provide support to other HR team members when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
