About the position

The Housekeeping Manager at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of room attendants and cleaners to ensure the hotel premises are maintained to high standards. This role emphasizes maintaining productivity levels, setting quality standards, and ensuring effective communication with various departments to deliver exceptional service to guests. The position requires a focus on staff management, training, and maintaining the overall quality of housekeeping operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of room attendants and cleaners.
  • Assist in the selection, recruitment, and training of housekeeping personnel.
  • Ensure meeting rooms and public spaces are set up according to event specifications.
  • Confirm attendance of housekeeping staff and find substitutes when necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute room assignments and keys to housekeeping attendants.
  • Check floors periodically and update room status for service improvements.
  • Respond to guest requests via department telephone.
  • Review and update systems and supplies for guest room accommodations within budgetary guidelines.
  • Train staff on new laws or regulations necessary for safe task performance.
  • Maintain high quality housekeeping standards in guest rooms, linens, lost and found, laundry, and janitorial services.
  • Establish quality-cleaning programs for furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Submit repair requests for cleaning equipment and requisition supplies for hotel amenities.
  • Assist in scheduling regular and irregular maintenance and cleanings of the hotel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years management experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
