About the position

The Housekeeping Director is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Housekeeping department, ensuring a clean and safe environment in compliance with laws, regulations, and Life Care standards. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing housekeeping activities while maintaining professional relationships and adhering to company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Housekeeping department.
  • Maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, ensuring facility appearance and performing regular inspections of patient rooms for sanitation and safety.
  • Ensure equipment is returned to appropriate locations in proper working condition and ready for the next use.
  • Inventory stock and ensure adequate supplies/equipment for staff.
  • Identify additional cleaning needs and adjust schedule to meet those needs.
  • Make daily rounds to assure that housekeeping staff are performing required duties.
  • Routinely inspect facility for cleanliness and safety, including storage rooms, closets, and patient rooms.
  • Recruit, select, hire, evaluate, train, counsel, and supervise housekeeping staff.
  • Perform duties as a Housekeeping Assistant as needed.
  • Effectively manage and operate within budget.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients.
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' supervisory experience in a health care setting.
  • Training in environmental control practices and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post acute care facility.
