The Housekeeping Aid position at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is essential for maintaining a clean and safe environment for Veterans and their families. This role involves executing a full range of housekeeping activities in both patient and non-patient care areas, ensuring that all cleaning tasks meet the highest standards. Housekeeping Aids work independently or as part of a team, contributing significantly to the overall patient care experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform floor maintenance and wall washing.
- Clean doors, doorframes, baseboard corners and edges, and stairwells.
- Sweep, dust mop, damp and wet mop, scrub, strip, refinish, buff, vacuum, and extract carpets and runners.
- Spot clean areas and perform high and low dusting.
- Empty trash and wastebaskets, replacing liners as needed.
- Transport general refuse, regulated medical waste, and recycling to central collection areas.
- Clean restrooms, bathrooms, and shower rooms, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards are met.
- Replenish supplies of paper towels, toilet paper, hand sanitizers, and soap in all areas where dispensers are located.
- Carry out and perform assignments with minimal supervision.
Requirements
