About the position

The House Supervisor and Bed Control Nurse oversees the daily administrative operations of the hospital, ensuring patient-focused and cost-effective services. This role involves collaboration with medical and administrative teams to provide timely, quality care while developing and monitoring policies to support organizational goals. The supervisor also evaluates processes to improve systems and implements strategies to enhance care quality and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hospital administrative daily operations and ensure patient-focused services.
  • Collaborate with medical and administrative teams to ensure timely and quality care.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to support organizational goals.
  • Evaluate processes to improve systems across the continuum of care.
  • Identify and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/services.
  • Act as the on-site administrative representative for Hospital Administration outside of customary business hours.
  • Provide direction and support to ancillary services after hours to ensure quality service and a safe environment.
  • Respond to all patient and facility emergencies, serving as Incident Commander during emergencies.
  • Communicate pertinent information at shift reports and triage patients for admission.
  • Coordinate patient transfers from local and out-of-area facilities to meet care needs.
  • Advocate for patients and families, resolving customer service issues as the Administrative Representative.
  • Monitor and adjust nursing shift staffing to meet patient needs in conjunction with unit management.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of acute care experience, including specialty training if applicable.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or RN with three (3) years of nursing leadership/charge nurse experience.
  • Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill in decision making, customer service, and quality management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Nursing management/leadership experience.
  • Master's degree in nursing administration or public health administration.
