About the position

An Electrician installs new equipment, troubleshoots and repairs existing electrical equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, dismantle, troubleshoot, maintain and repair all types of electric equipment such as A/C & D/C drives, motors and generators, control circuits, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, distribution panels and lighting circuits
  • Conduct insulation resistance measurements of electrical cables, motors to determine condition and effects repairs or replacement as required
  • Utilize precision electrical measurement tools such as multimeters, ammeters, insulation resistance testers etc.
  • Supervises and participates in the installation and/or alteration to electrical systems aboard dredges and other marine vessels with basic understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Follows all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an 'Incident and Injury Free' work environment

Requirements

  • 3+ years of electrician experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Experience reading electrical drawings and troubleshooting control circuits
  • Strong technical understanding of A/C and D/C generators and motors and motor controls
  • Experience in troubleshooting all types of electrical systems, including but not limited to generators from 3kw to 3000kw preferred, A/C and D/C drives
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Ability to work a 50-hour work week M-F, overtime as needed
  • Travel (by land, air, and water) to field locations is required (transportation paid)
