Salt + Smoke Values ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : When people come to dine at Salt + Smoke, the first person they will meet is you, the host. At this time, you become the face of the company. You are responsible for greeting our guests in a kind and welcoming manner and showing them to their table. The goal is to seat all guests according to our seating chart that follows a fair and accurate rotation. This is key to maintaining the flow and service of tables throughout a shift. Oftentimes, this will include putting guests on a waitlist and quoting appropriate wait times, being creative with table movement to accommodate larger parties, and answering basic questions about the store and menu. The host is also responsible for taking to go orders and distributing them as they come up. As a host, one of the key parts of being successful is to be able to remain calm, friendly, and courteous. Greet and thank guests, every customer, every time with warmth and kindness. Seat guests while maintaining a proper rotation. Add guests to our wait list system with accurately quoted wait times. Understand our reservation and seating policies and clearly communicate with guests. Take to go orders in person or over the phone, and accurately distribute them to guests as they come up, ensuring that payment has been collected. Finish all to go orders with to go sauces as indicated on the tickets. Answer phone calls and questions about store hours, reservations, wait times, and menu items. Maintain cleanliness of front door, inside and out, clearing window ledges from debris. Keeping the host stand organized Maintaining all menus, wiping them down, and alerting management when running low on menus, kid's menus, crayons, or bar menus. Ensure guests are always sat with appropriate menus and rollups at a CLEAN and sanitized table. Restock wipes, crayons, kids' menus. Help to maintain the retail shelf with t-shirts.

Requirements

  • Excellent customer service, communication, and listening skills.
  • Ability to understand and comply with proper seating chart rotation, reservation, and seating policies.
  • Ability to process guest bills and payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card transactions, and gift cards.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational and efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, efficient, and polite.
  • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods of time in varied climate conditions.
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 50 lbs at times.
  • Ability to go up and down stairs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Scheduled days and times may vary based on business needs.
