About the position

The Host Producer for Current Affairs at WDET is responsible for hosting live, interactive programming and producing content segments. Responsibilities

• Host live, interactive daily programming and produce segments and content features.
• Research and develop compelling story ideas for radio broadcasts.
• Write and edit scripts for radio segments, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
• Identify and reach out to potential guests for interviews, conducting pre-interview research.
• Oversee the production process from concept to final broadcast, ensuring seamless execution.
• Foster community engagement through content that reflects local interests and concerns.
• Explore creative storytelling approaches, incorporating diverse voices and perspectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in hosting and producing public media programming, preferably in radio broadcasting.
• Solid news judgment and knowledge of NPR code of ethics for journalism.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current events and issues important to Metro Detroiters.
