About the position

The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming environment for guests at the restaurant. This role involves managing reservations, seating customers, and providing information to both guests and staff. The Host/Hostess will also handle complaints, maintain the restaurant's office supplies, and support administrative tasks as needed. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others to ensure a positive dining experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas.
• Manage reservations and confirm event bookings.
• Maintain menus in pristine condition, including printing daily menu inserts.
• Attend to all incoming phone calls and provide guests with menus.
• Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.
• Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and respond to complaints.
• Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, and serving staff to ensure dining details are handled properly.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure prompt and courteous service.
• Report to work on time, in proper uniform, and comply with company policy regarding absenteeism and tardiness.
• Attend all colleague meetings and read the bulletin board daily for important notices.

Requirements

• Previous restaurant experience required.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to follow payroll and key sign-out procedures.
• Ability to assist guests and respond to hotel emergencies or safety situations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Open Table, and Micros.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of ingredients, preparation, and proper presentation of all menu items and specials.
