This role ensures safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapies for patients, while also providing drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and families. The position involves detecting and reporting adverse drug reactions and medication errors, participating in quality improvement activities, and assisting with pharmacokinetics consults and antibiotic appropriateness reviews. Additionally, the pharmacist supervises pharmacy technicians, provides input on their performance, and may act in the absence of the pharmacy director. Adherence to health system policies, safety regulations, and legal compliance is paramount. The role also includes maintaining formulary compliance, managing investigational drugs and controlled substances, and serving as a professional role model and resource.
