About the position

The Hospital Operations Manager at Petco is responsible for providing daily leadership to the veterinary hospital, ensuring high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service. This role involves collaborating with veterinarians and retail partners to create a profitable operation while fostering a supportive team environment. The manager oversees various operational aspects, including scheduling, training, and financial performance, to enhance the overall client and patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead hospital paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence and high standard patient care.
• Create productive relationships with veterinarians to foster a positive culture.
• Manage day-to-day functions including scheduling, inventory control, and patient care.
• Oversee hiring, training, and performance management of paraprofessional partners.
• Schedule appointments and maintain client/patient records within the practice management system.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and maintain a clean hospital environment.
• Review monthly P&L reports and collaborate with Area Operations Manager to increase revenue.

Requirements

• 2-3 years previous experience working in a veterinary practice or 2+ years of strong leadership experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make decisions and delegate tasks effectively.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor during stressful situations.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

• 3-5 years previous experience in veterinary practice.
• Previous P&L management experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in a management role, including customer service.
• Veterinary Assistant/Technician experience in positions of increased responsibility.
