About the position
DaVita is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate care in a hospital setting for patients with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. This full-time position involves working night shifts and requires the RN to deliver empathetic care while collaborating with hospital staff. The role includes performing dialysis treatments and supervising other nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality direct patient care and renal replacement therapies in a professional manner while communicating with hospital partners.
- Initiates and discontinues prescribed renal replacement therapy, verifying safety measures and administering medications as needed.
- Documents patients' physical assessments, vital signs, and treatment reviews in medical records, alerting physicians to any issues.
- Supervises the day-to-day work of multi-treatment room teammates and acts as a resource for less experienced staff.
- Communicates emergencies and patient complications to supervisors and hospital staff, documenting observations appropriately.
- Handles administrative tasks including verifying charges and documentation, attending mandatory meetings, and hospital orientation.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification.
- Greater than six months of acute dialysis experience.
- Proficient in all Resident RN-Acute duties with over one year of nursing experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Emergency Room (ER), or Medical Surgical (Med Surg).
- Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN).
