About the position

The Hospital Aide position at Kaiser Permanente involves performing a variety of non-professional patient care duties in an inpatient hospital setting. Under the indirect supervision of the Unit Supervisor and direction of licensed staff, the aide is responsible for assisting with patient care, data collection, and maintaining safety and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with ongoing data collection and reports changes in patient status to RN/LPN.
  • Implements care plan under the direction of licensed staff.
  • Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Demonstrates technical competence in basic nursing skills and use of simple equipment.
  • Records data and nursing care activities in medical record following Department/Unit/JCAHO standards.
  • Utilizes Department and Unit forms per procedures.
  • Functions with awareness of and applies safety principles and standards.
  • Reports incidents, work-related injuries, unsafe equipment or environment to supervisor.
  • Applies infection control principles and standards.
  • Assists as directed during Code 500.

Requirements

  • Completion of Hospital Aide Training Program or equivalent military training course, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 1 month of hire from American Heart Association.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in oral communication, written communication, interpersonal relations, and customer service.

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) year Hospital Aide experience.
