About the position

The Senior Staff Physician in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Henry Ford Health is responsible for providing patient care, teaching, and engaging in scholarly work within the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Programs. This role involves working with a diverse patient population and being part of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to palliative care.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Attending Physician on the interdisciplinary inpatient palliative medicine consultative service and inpatient hospice services at Henry Ford Hospital.
  • Supervise and train medical students, residents, fellows, and other interdisciplinary learners as clinical faculty for the ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.
  • Participate in scholarly activities in education, quality improvement, and research.
  • Facilitate the innovative communication skills education program, CLEAR Conversations, based on interest and skills.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of hospital-based protocols in pain, symptom management, advance care planning, end-of-life care, and other areas related to palliative medicine.

Requirements

  • Initial board certification in a primary specialty.
  • Board-certification or Board-eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Palliative Medicine Fellowship training or other comparable experience.
  • Self-directed, flexible, and committed to the team concept.
