HorseOlogy, LLC, located in Ocala, FL, is seeking 10 full-time temporary Horse Groom/Stable Attendants for the period from October 1, 2024, to May 30, 2025. This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with a split shift schedule from 5:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Sunday. While optional hours are available on Mondays, they are not mandatory. The working hours may vary depending on weather conditions and the racing schedule. The hourly wage is set at $13.85, with overtime compensation at $20.78 per hour, and employees will be paid weekly on Fridays. The employer will only make deductions from the worker's paycheck as required by law. As a Horse Groom/Stable Attendant, the primary responsibilities include the daily care and preparation of horses for training. This involves feeding and watering the horses, cleaning tack, bathing, brushing, and clipping the horses, as well as applying horse boots and preparing them for saddling. The role also includes cleaning the horses' feet, applying or removing leg wraps and saddles, bathing or cooling down horses after training, and assisting veterinarians during physical examinations by keeping the horses calm. Additionally, attendants will assist farriers with the inspection and care of the horses' hooves and shoes. Other duties include cleaning and re-bedding stalls, hosing down horses, and wrapping them in brace or poultice bandages as necessary. The position may also require exercising or riding horses and assisting trainers in preparing them for daily training. Candidates must be able to lift up to 150 lbs with assistance and have at least three months of experience as a Horse Groom or Stable Attendant. No formal education is required for this position. The employer will provide all necessary tools, supplies, and equipment at no charge. Random drug testing may be required post-hire, and daily transportation to and from the worksite will be provided at no cost. While the employer will assist workers in securing housing upon request, they will not provide housing directly. Workers who complete 50% of the employment contract will be reimbursed for transportation and subsistence costs from the place of recruitment to the worksite. Upon completion of the contract or if dismissed early, the employer will cover reasonable return transportation costs. Daily subsistence during travel will be provided at a rate of $15.88 per day, up to a maximum of $59 per day with receipts. H-2B workers will also be reimbursed for visa processing and related fees during the first workweek. For certified employment periods of 120 days or more, the employer guarantees work equal to 75% of workdays in each 12-week period of total employment.
