About The Position

The Hood Technician position is responsible for cleaning the grease off the cooking exhaust systems of commercial kitchens. This role also involves supervisory functions relating to crews. The technician will work after hours once facilities are closed, often alone with a helper, and must interact professionally with restaurant management and staff, demonstrating honesty and trustworthiness. Duties include inspections, clean-up, some maintenance, taking photos of work, driving to and from job sites, filling out paperwork, keeping the truck and machine in working condition, cleaning kitchen exhaust systems including fans, roof, and filters, working safely with ladders and chemicals, and arriving at scheduled appointments on time. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Leadership skills, ability to motivate, provide direction, required.
  • Demonstrate critical/safety forward thinking skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees.
  • Strong diligence and accuracy.
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.
  • Frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift <60lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise.
  • Must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Light mechanical ability, preferred.
  • Work with hand/power tools.
  • Occasional need to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift >60lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
  • Occasionally be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others.

Responsibilities
