About the position

Arcadia Home Care & Staffing is a national provider of home care and staffing with over 35 years of experience and dedication to enhancing the quality of life. Responsibilities

  • Follows all written instructions as determined by client/responsible parties within limits of the Agency's policies for homemaker as written on the service plan.
  • Provides socialization, conversation and emotional reassurance to the client.
  • Encourages and participates in reading, appropriate games, and other activities to promote well-being and stimulate the mind and the spirit.
  • Provides for safety by using the principles of health and safety in relation to self and client, including identifying and reporting safety hazards, following assigned safety precautions, and practicing health protection and cleanliness.
  • Provides escort services, such as accompanying the client to scheduled appointments, shopping or errands.
  • Takes care of pets and waters the plants.
  • Encourages and supervises the maintenance of clean and healthy environment.
  • Assists with home management i.e. monitoring food expirations, assist with mail, order groceries/home supplies.
  • Provides housekeeping duties such as washing dishes, wiping/disinfecting sinks and countertops, bed making, light personal laundry, light vacuuming and dusting.
  • Assists the client to achieve or maintain adequate nutrition and hydration by assisting with grocery shopping, simple meal or snack preparation.
  • Encourages/supervises appropriate personal hygiene.
  • Reminds and encourages daily exercise.
  • Empties urinals and bedside commodes.
  • Provides timely medication reminders and reports concerns to supervisor.
  • Works with client and family with maturity, compassion, empathy, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Notifies the office of any change in the client's status or home environment or an emergency.
  • Notifies the office in a timely manner of the need for cancellation or change in coverage.
  • Completes documentation promptly and legibly in the appropriate section of the client record.
  • Attends all in-service training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Satisfactory completion of Agency qualifying exam.
  • One (1) year current experience (within past five (5) years) as a homemaker in the home healthcare setting.
  • Possesses an empathetic attitude towards clients.
  • Ability to read and write English.
  • Successful completion of state required basic homemaker training in accordance with FAC 59A-8,0095(12).
  • Must have current HIV training and ADRD training.
