About the position

The position involves performing an age-specific plan of care for a designated group of patients using the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The role requires collaboration with physicians and other health team members to coordinate and implement procedures and treatments. Leadership skills and clinical judgment are essential for coordinating patient care and directing or delegating activities of the patient care unit team. Additionally, the job includes various administrative tasks with specified rates for orientation, education, and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures to patients and their significant others.
• Assess patients' health status across various systems and adjust the plan of care as appropriate.
• Develop patient outcome statements and establish individualized patient goals.
• Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication to achieve expected outcomes.
• Document the plan of care and collaborate with physicians and other health team members.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their significant others during care.
• Evaluate care provided for patient outcomes and perform variance analysis for performance improvement.
• Administer medications correctly and educate patients about drug interactions.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
• Must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two (2) years and obtain a BSN Degree within five (5) years of job entry date.
