Responsibilities
- Perform routine transportation operations or maintenance support work such as roadway maintenance and repair.
- Operate light and heavy equipment for maintenance tasks.
- Conduct preventive and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with traffic control and help the public during emergency situations.
- Inspect and maintain highways and rights-of-way, including repairs and installations of signs and guard rails.
- Provide support to local law enforcement at accident sites and assist stranded motorists.
- Complete various required reports including timekeeping and equipment forms.
Requirements
- No education required for General Transportation Tech I; 1 year experience required for General Transportation Tech II in transportation engineering support or related work.
- Valid Driver License at time of application; Commercial Class 'A' Driver License (CDL) with an N Endorsement required within 120 days of employment.
- Experience in roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or heavy equipment operation is preferred.
