Being the driver in Volkswagen Group initiative for mobility solutions, we are an integral part of Volkswagen Group's future success.  Are you ready to join us?   LOCAL CANDIDATES STRONGLY PREFERRED   Role Summary The High-voltage Certified Service Engineer (EV's & Autonomous Driving)  performs the updates of test and validation platforms, which include test benches as well as engineering vehicles in the ECC workshop. This includes hardware and software updates, installation of measuring technology and troubleshooting of electrical or mechanical faults. This position exists in order to ensure that all requirements concerning testing activities and deadlines are met, to support various engineering departments' testing activities, and to ensure the accurate configuration and setup of test and validation platforms. The Technical Engineer must establish and maintain a long-term collaborative relationship with production and validation facilities, local project and validation teams, and engineers in the headquarters in Germany.Possible Tasks within this Role Garage Operations: Operational: Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs test vehicles including prototypes, converts vehicles Including but not limited to infotainment systems, online connectivity units and driver assistance systems Recommends options in time-sensitive situations that have the potential to adversely affect the projects Recommends vehicle transportation, towing, and shipping and receiving activities in regard to required testing operations   Technical: Ensures top working condition of all workshop equipment in order to meet engineering and regulatory deadlines in order to prevent a deferred start of production or engineering approval for prototype and preproduction vehicles Determines upkeep requirements, initiates equipment calibration and maintenance and notifies the workshop supervisor of those Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs test and validation platforms and equipment Including but not limited to engineering/prototype vehicles, test benches, proof of concept setups Performs required repairs, hardware and software updates and measuring technology (e.g. data logger) installs This includes hardware changes, software updates, wiring harnesses, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting as well as regular vehicle maintenance Disassembling/assembling of vehicle interiors and occasionally exteriors Minimizes resource downtime to maximize available testing capacity Performs quality and safety checks on validation platforms to maximize uptime and resource safety Fabricates wiring harnesses, brackets and holders, and lays out measuring technology installations This includes use of machine shop, drill press, laser cutter, 3D printers, hand tools, saws Proper crimping and pinning of wires Creates, adjusts and updates vehicle and test bench coding files/information as needed Adheres to corporate policies in regard to workshop safety, OSHA compliance, proper Hazmat handling and garage best-practices   Organizational: Communicates and coordinates with various internal and external groups in order to present the status/state of all work items in a transparent way.   Administrative topics: Creates, updates and closes workshop tickets in a timely manner and a transparent way Proper and detailed documentation of work items Researches and recommends types of parts, testing supplies, hardware, software, tools, and any other equipment necessary for enhanced efficiency of work routines Stays on top of changing technological trends and garage/workshop best-practices Keeps the workplace, workshop area and test lab organized

Requirements

  • 6+ years of automotive, electrical or mechanical engineering with experience working on electric, autonomous vehicles
  • Automotive technician master certificate,
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Computer savvy - skilled in the use of software
  • Integration - joining people, processes or systems

  • 3+ years of project management or dealership experience

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant engineering/technical experience with Volkswagen Group vehicles

  • Experience with VW Group diagnostic tools (iDEX, ODIS, CP-TOOL)
