About the position

The Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and maintaining a variety of heavy mobile equipment, including construction, industrial, combat, tactical, and powered support equipment. The role involves removing and repairing major systems or components of equipment, such as power packs, transmissions, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps, and alternators. The technician will also make adjustments to idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkages, perform inspections, conduct mechanical diagnostics, and provide technical assistance to unit personnel. Additionally, the position requires operating motor vehicles to fulfill job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain heavy mobile equipment.
  • Remove and repair major systems or components of equipment.
  • Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections.
  • Conduct mechanical diagnostics to localize defects.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts.
  • Perform minor body work.
  • Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
  • Operate motor vehicles to perform job duties.

Requirements

  • Active membership as a soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR).
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination.
  • Subject to Drug Abuse Testing Program requirements.
  • Requires a Class A CDL within 180 days of employment.
  • Requires a medical examination prior to employment.
  • Requires a Personnel Security Investigation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
