About The Position

The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Division of Cardiology invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with a minimum of 1-year dedicated fellowship training in Heart failure. This position is based at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH), which is a University of British Columbia (UBC)-affiliated teaching hospital. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academically focused career with a commitment to Education. Vancouver General Hospital is a Level 1 quaternary referral center for the province and is actively involved in the care of patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular disease with catchment from throughout British Columbia. The General Cardiology and Heart Failure Programs at Vancouver General Hospital are growing and require another recruit to support its activities and further expansion. Responsibilities include supporting the Heart Function and General Cardiology Programs with care provision and consultation at Vancouver General Hospital. The position at VGH will involve ambulatory heart function and general cardiology clinic as well as inpatient cardiology consultation and ward service. This role will also be clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure (AARPT) Committee of the UBC Department of Medicine. Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-year dedicated fellowship training in Heart failure.
  • RCPSC designation in Internal Medicine and Cardiology or their equivalents.
  • Eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and research.
  • Exceptional work ethics and collegiality.
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) - Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) - Mandatory
