About the position

At Northwell Health, we are on a quest to define the healthcare industry of tomorrow as New York State's largest private employer and healthcare provider. The Healthcare Management Program (HMP) internship is a 10-week paid program designed to immerse Summer Associates in all aspects of healthcare administration and operations in one of our participating hospitals, clinical service lines, departments, or healthcare-related businesses. Summer Associates are partnered with a hand-picked mentor to teach and guide them through their internship experience. This internship could be the first steppingstone in your career journey and can lead to many opportunities at Northwell, including prime consideration for a full-time job in our Management Associate Program post-graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the preparation of analytics data to support the work of the department.
  • Facilitates and ensures completion of assigned departmental projects.
  • Meets with administration leadership to support analysis of scope of service and data.
  • Reviews and assists in the analysis of external data for patterns, trends and methodology.
  • Assists in studies to objectively ascertain the efficiency, economy and effectiveness of department or Hospital operations, policies and procedures.
  • Assists management in facilitating new programs and/or procedures.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's level program, majoring in a related field, required.
  • Current undergraduate college students whose expected graduation date is between December 2025 and May 2026.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Powerpoint, Word and Excel, required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior administrative experience in a hospital setting, preferred.
