About the position

The Health Unit Coordinator at The Dimock Center plays a crucial role in managing front desk administrative and customer service functions related to patient care within the Acute Treatment Services (ATS) unit. This position requires a caring and hardworking individual who thrives in a team environment and is committed to excellence in a medical or office setting. The coordinator will interact with patients and collaborate with nursing and clinical staff to ensure efficient unit operations and a respectful environment for individuals undergoing treatment for substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all front desk administrative and customer service functions related to patient care.
  • Work under the direction of the Program Director for ATS/CSS and collaborate with nursing staff.
  • Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer telephone calls and direct them appropriately; take detailed messages when necessary.
  • Ensure clerical accuracy and documentation of the unit.
  • Communicate program goals and rules of conduct to patients.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patients' medical information.
  • Collaborate with detox staff to ensure effective communication and program utilization.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Photocopy and fax materials as required; input data as needed.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and notify the supervisor as needed.
  • Notify the need for repair of equipment in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings as required and promote a positive team environment.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality; uphold professional appearance and attitude.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Medical or health care experience desirable, but willing to train otherwise qualified candidates.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and procedures.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to interact with diverse groups.
