About the position
This position is for a Medical Assistant within the Federal service, specifically for locations in Fort Hall, ID; Salem, OR; Warm Springs, OR; Nespelem, WA; Omak, WA; and Toppenish, WA. The role requires a combination of education and experience to qualify, with specific requirements for different grade levels (GS-04 to GS-07). The position involves supporting medical personnel and performing various health-related tasks. Responsibilities
- Assist medical personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists.
- Perform tasks related to patient care, including obtaining vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and ensuring cleanliness.
- Administer vaccines and assist in diagnostic tests as directed by healthcare providers.
- Coordinate patient care plans and manage referrals for chronic patients.
- Participate in telehealth clinics and ensure patient understanding of care instructions.
Requirements
- For GS-04: 1 year of general and specialized experience or 2 years of education above high school.
- For GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 or a full 4-year course of study.
- For GS-06: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05.
- For GS-07: Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited institute is required for GS-05 and above.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a family medicine-oriented medical facility.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and medical office procedures.
- Ability to perform advanced clinic procedures.
