About the position

Join a dedicated and collaborative EHS team at ZF Axle Drives in Marysville, MI, where we manufacture high-quality axle drives for Stellantis. Our team of three includes an EHS Supervisor and an Environmental Specialist, working together to foster a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. As our new EHS Specialist, you'll play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs across the plant. You'll engage with all levels of personnel to conduct safety trainings, lead audits, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards-making a real impact on the well-being of our workforce and the success of our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safety Program, safety files, procedures, policies, and records in compliance with regulatory agencies requirements.
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain data essential for effective safety programs, including OSHA filings, as well as other reports as required.
  • Perform or assist with accident investigations as needed. Ensure that processes take necessary corrective actions to prevent future incidents. Communicate recommendations to all concerned parties promptly.
  • Design, develop, and conduct safety training programs. Conduct program assessments to identify department program deficiencies.
  • Coordinate and conduct work area assessment, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions such as noise and chemical exposure, ergonomics, indoor air quality, light levels, confined space, and ventilation.
  • Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or personal protective equipment.
  • Assist departments with specific safety training needs by locating and scheduling outside training activities. Track training implementation and report status of training activities.
  • Assist with the medical surveillance program to include required vaccinations and medical testing of employees as may be regulated by OSHA and other federal and state laws.
  • Assist with various EHS related audits and inspections.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 3+ years of safety related experience (Bachelor's degree in safety management or related field preferred).
  • Understanding of Adult Learner outcomes and procedures.
  • Ability to develop instructional materials and professional communications, as well as ability to present/teach to large audiences.
  • Must have a professional demeanor and the ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft, e-Learning, and Desktop Publishing.
  • Work occasional weekends and off-shift hours.
