About the position

Join our Health Promotion team at Marion County Health and Human Services and help create opportunities for the future through Public Health. You will work with a dedicated team and community partners who are striving to improve health outcomes for residents in our local community. The ideal candidate will enjoy a busy, multifaceted environment working with a diverse group of co-workers and community stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing a robust work plan to implement evidence-based prevention programs, ensuring Marion County Health and Human Services is a leader in systems-change to promote health for all, and driving programs based on data and assessment of local conditions to respond to health concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, organization, and implementation of a health education program for a specific population served by the Health and Human Services Department.
  • Provide intervention services, technical support, and other professional services to public and private medical communities.
  • Develop and monitor contracts for multimedia communication projects.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive media campaigns to raise awareness of fentanyl dangers.
  • Engage local Substance Use Prevention coalition in opioid and fentanyl prevention activities.
  • Provide technical assistance and facilitation of opioid/fentanyl prevention curriculum.
  • Identify resources and adapt materials for target audiences.
  • Integrate fentanyl and opioid use information into materials and presentations.
  • Assist Youth development program with community outreach projects.
  • Coordinate outreach and educational events for local primary and specialty care providers.
  • Utilize prevention data in decision making and recommendations.
  • Write/edit articles and materials for newsletters and social media.
  • Represent the health department at community and health meetings.
  • Participate in bi-monthly check-in meetings with supervisor.
  • Attend monthly Prevention Team meetings and program-specific coordination meetings.
  • Drive motor vehicle to provide service in the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with specialization in education, public health, health, nursing, sociology, psychology or social sciences and one year of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minor in education, public health, health, nursing, sociology, psychology, or social sciences and one and a half years related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree and two years' experience in education, public health, health, nursing, sociology, psychology, or social sciences.
  • Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position.
