About the position

The Health Education Consultant position at the Center for Development and Disability (CDD) involves planning and coordinating community training activities focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. This part-time role emphasizes the development of educational resources, cultural awareness, and inclusion, while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support individuals with disabilities and their families throughout New Mexico.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the development and implementation of community training activities including live trainings, webinars, and podcasts.
  • Assist in the development of educational resources specialized in ASD and ensure cultural awareness specific to New Mexico.
  • Present information to providers, families, and individuals with ASD, demonstrating an understanding of ASD and cultural diversity.
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
  • Exhibit professionalism and positivity in a changing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background and experience in training and understanding of the concepts of inclusion and self-determination.
  • Experience working with youth and adults with disabilities and ASD on issues specific to disability and self-advocacy.
  • Experience working as part of a team with diverse ethnic groups and people with disabilities.
  • Spanish speaker.
  • Lived experience of disability.
