Our Customer Services team seeks a procurement leader to transform our strategic sourcing approach for a backlog of multi billion USD. As the transportation sector undergoes unprecedented growth and technological transformation, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of rail services procurement while collaborating with our dynamic global procurement network.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement category strategies that align with business objectives in the US and Canada and drive value creation across various categories including rolling stock maintenance, spares, software, and infrastructure
  • Lead business-aligned negotiation strategies with major suppliers and lead strategic sourcing initiatives to deliver cost savings, risk mitigation, sustainability goals, and supplier enabled innovation
  • Grow a high-performance team of 8 category managers and provide training on second/in-sourcing programs
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to implement innovative cost reduction strategies while maintaining or improving quality and performance
  • Spearhead AI use case implementation in strategic procurement teams to enhance decision-making, automate routine tasks, and identify optimization opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement within the category management function and pioneer the integration of AI enabled technologies into procurement processes specific to the rail industry
  • Monitor supply market conditions and drive productivity improvements through cost & value engineering, and strategic implementation of digital and AI technologies
  • Identify and handle procurement risks, opportunities, potential changes, and claims throughout the service lifecycle
  • Lead cross-functional cost-out initiatives in our service backlog, identifying opportunities for standardization, process optimization, and value creation
  • Serve as a key strategic partner to the CS business unit leadership team, translating business objectives into actionable category strategies

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of experience as a Procurement Professional, with at least 5 years of leadership experience in category management and the ability to travel approximately 30%
  • Proven track record of delivering significant business impact through strategic procurement initiatives incl. second sourcing, design to cost, cost and value engineering
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional cost reduction initiatives and hands-on knowledge of the US domestic rail service markets
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to quickly establish trust and confidence
  • International experience in collaboration and cross-functional skills
  • Knowledge of AI applications in procurement and supply chain management as well as the ambition to learn and quickly adapt
  • Advanced negotiation skills and commercial acumen
