About the position

The Head of Service at Destiny Home of Hope is responsible for providing clinical oversight and quality assurance to both licensed and unlicensed staff clinicians delivering mental health care services, particularly focusing on trauma-informed care for children, youth, and families. This role ensures compliance with legal, ethical, and clinical standards while also identifying training needs and supporting the professional development of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct, individual clinical supervision for licensed and unlicensed clinical staff.
  • Monitors caseloads and ensures compliance with agency and clinical, legal, and ethical practices.
  • Reviews and co-signs supervisees' progress notes, clinical forms, and correspondence when indicated.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and evaluation to clinicians on the quality and timeliness of their clinical work.
  • Identifies training needs and facilitates appropriate training for staff.
  • Oversees administrative monitoring of billable hours requirements.
  • Supports, trains, and remediates supervisees to meet billing expectations and documentation standards.
  • Communicates concerns about clinician's work quality to the Program Director promptly.
  • Ensures compliance with legal and ethical practices; co-signs unlicensed clinicians' documentation as a legal representative.
  • Participates in leadership and administrative program meetings and training as required.
  • Contributes to performance evaluations of clinicians.
  • Adheres to supervisor requirements as stipulated by policies and California Board regulations.
  • Helps clinicians identify professional development goals and monitors progress.
  • Functions as a crisis intervention clinician as needed.
  • Performs other duties or projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • LCSW, LMFT, PsyD, AMFT, ACSW licensed or registered by their respective California licensing board.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience as a supervisor of clinical work preferred.
  • Completion of required supervision training each renewal period.
  • Demonstrated experience working with sexually exploited, high-risk, and transition-aged foster youth.
  • Experience providing and/or supervising community-based mental health treatment.
  • Clinical experience with foster care, child protective services, juvenile justice, and community psychology models.
  • Experience providing psychological services to clients with complex, multiple diagnosis histories.
  • Experience providing parent support and family therapy to adolescents and families involved in juvenile justice or foster care.
  • Clinical training and experience with trauma-informed treatment models for children and families.
